The Business Development Manager – Communications Infrastructure will be charged with developing opportunities relative to communications infrastructure. Understand the critical market dynamics driving investment in North America and capitalize on the growing demand for interconnectivity (IIOT). Lead in the development of this market segment. Identify applications, products, customers, and channel partners. Leverage existing products and utilize 80/20 to identify key areas of focus to support the product engineering team in new product development activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the development of the communications infrastructure market and products portfolio
  • Develop new business opportunities with current accounts and new OEM customers.
  • Provides leadership to the sales organization and counsel to the VP Infrastructure Group in implementing sales organization objectives that appropriately reflect the business unit’s goals.
  • Work in collaboration with engineering to develop new products.
  • Facilitates successful implementation of new product introductions by ensuring a well-defined, efficient sales process is in place focused on capturing the voice of the customer.
  • Analyze the current market position, i.e., the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Identifies gaps and in collaboration with the VP Infrastructure Group implements strategies to improve market positioning.
  • Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities and coordinating new product development.
  • Develop and deploy key account strategies, supported by market research and individual account growth plans.
  • Establishes pricing strategies in coordination with Product Manager and/or VP Infrastructure Group by analyzing trends and results, monitoring costs, and evaluating market conditions.
  • Fosters an organization of continuous process improvement. Works closely with operations/manufacturing to maximize efficiency and drive world class customer service.
  • Domestic and International Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners

These are the general duties required to fulfill the Business Development Manager – Communications Infrastructure job description, not a detailed description of all work required. New duties and responsibilities may be required to meet the changing demands of the business and technology.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering.
  • A minimum of ten years of business-to-business sales experience is required, with at least 5 years of strategic sales experience in related field.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Minimum of five years in sales operations, business planning or sales support management role. Individual must be an “analytical thinker” and have the ability to develop long term plans that incorporate “80/20” focused direction. Differentiation, Innovation, Engineered Solutions and Value Proposition must be at the core of this.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills required.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • High Level of financial and business acumen
  • Ability to use technology and analysis tools (Excel, Outlook, web, databases)
  • Executive presence to influence senior decision makers

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary position sitting, talking, looking at a computer, charts/graphs and performing repetitive motions.
  • Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate with manufacturing team members as needed in an environment that can be noisy.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when onsite.
